Crater 3 - Mountain expedition

Fagrifoss and Fjaðrárgljúfur gorge

This is a great oportunity to get into the highlands on a luxury super jeep.  In this tour we drive into the mountains were we must cross the river Geirlandsá to get to the hidden and the most beautiful waterfall Fagrifoss(means literally beautiful waterfall) Explore the breathtaking Fjaðrárgljúfur canyon and drive into secret place in the magnificent lunar landscape Pseudo Craters of Landbrotshólar.

The road to Laki is a rough mountain road and vehicles must cross un-bridged rivers that swell in heavy rain.  That means you will have to drive into the river if you want to get to the other side. That's where insurance companies close their eyes and say, at your own risk!  Meaning that any damage to your rental vehicle in a river will come out of your pocket and your life is in your hands.  Normal 4x4 vehicles are often in trouble when crossing the rivers on their way to Laki craters and keeping the local volunteer rescue teems busy.

This is exactly what our super jeep has been designed to do.  A muscular built up 4x4, modified in Iceland to be able to deal with the tough surroundings in the highlands and on glaciers.  It is saf to say that the super jeep is an experience by itself.  Our super jeep can travel fast and safe  on the rugged road, giving you more time to hike around and explore this unique area.

We will stop at the beautiful hidden waterfall Fagrifoss and explore its surroundings.  From there we will drive back to the breath-taking Fjaðrárgljúfur canyon where passengers can walk downhill by the gorge (about 25 min easy walk). The car will wait for you at the parking lot.  We continue our tour and drive into the magnificent and unique area of Landbrotshólar (Pseudo- Craters) and explore them and learn how they were formed.

Tour highlights:  Mountains, crossing un-bridged rivers, beautiful Fagrifoss waterfall, spectacular Fjaðrárgljúfur gorge and  the unique craters Landbrotshólar pseudo craters.
