Black sand as far as you can see. Thundering waves of the Atlantic Ocean, old shipwreck, climb the lighthouse and stop in the rescue shelter, Craters and Lava is the highlights of this tour.

We start the ATV/quad bike tour from our base at Hotel Laki.  Our first stop is at the beautiful hidden place Tröllshylur that is an old dry riverbed from the time the Skaftá river was here.  

Black sand as far as you can see.  There are no roads where we are going and your guide will work you through the endless black sand to the sea.   Sometimes we see seals that are trying to catch a fish in the thundering waves of the North Atlantic Ocean. It is a great fun to drive the quads in the endless black sand where there are no roads.  Feel the freedom of standing next to the ocean, just watching the waves and the birds flying close to you and you would like this moment to last forever.

We will also stop in the old haunted rescue shelter that has recently being renovated.  You will learn about the hard lives of the people in this area that has no harbour and about the 100 ships that are buried in the black sand and we will take a look at one old shipwreck that stranded here in the beach 1925.  There is a lighthouse standing next to the shelter that you can climb up for great view.

We will have a little refreshment in the shelter and have a look at some of the old things that are still kept there.  There is a WC in the shelter.

On our way home we will drive through the magnificent moon landscape of pseudo crates (Landbrotshólar) on a tailor made tracks.

This is really a great fun in a unique landscape not easily accessible in any other way.

We provide warm overall, gloves, balaclava face mask and helmet.  We also provide a rain suit in wet.
